Medics.Academy and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust are collaborating to launch Nucleus, an online genomics training programme to ‘future proof’ the medical workforce.
Aiming to upskill healthcare professionals’ knowledge of genomics, Nucleus will offer training on an ‘innovative educational platform’, delivered by experts at Guy’s and St Thomas’,
The Trust’s Clinical Genetics Department currently focuses on identification, diagnosis and management of the care of several genetic conditions. It already delivers a face-to-face, masters level educational programme in cancer genetics for healthcare professionals working in primary care and specialist settings.
With Nucleus focusing on digital content, it’s hoped that making training more accessible will attract the ‘widest possible cohort of health professionals’ to improve their competencies in genomics.
Starting with cancer genomics, Nucleus provides an interactive, CPD accredited learning platform. It also allows health professionals to tailor their educational needs and learn at their own pace.

Medics.Academy will be be working with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS FT with the intention to ‘foster a community of healthcare professionals’ who can become ‘thought leaders’ in the genomics area by accessing the knowledge of experts, sharing best practice with the online community and continuing their development.
