New interim Chief Executive appointed at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has announced that Tim Welch is to become their new interim chief executive.

The role was previously occupied by Sheena Cumiskey, who has now joined Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership, as their chief officer on a 3-month secondment basis.

The appointment of Tim Welch will cover Sheena’s time away from the organisation, who is expected to resume her role after 3-month secondment has ended.

Tim said: “I am delighted to accept the role of Interim chief executive at CWP for this three-month period. I am looking forward to meeting with colleagues at ‘CWP Cares’ visits and will be aiming to get out and about to meet as many staff as possible during the coming months. I recognise how hard everyone is working to support people who access services – and each other – at a time of high demand on NHS services and following a very tough 15 months.

“The ‘can do’ attitude of staff, and the volume of great ideas and enthusiasm I’ve seen despite the many challenges faced, is a true inspiration and I look forward to helping to put some of those great ideas into practice alongside you.”

Andy Harland (Deputy Director of Business and Value) will now fill in the role as Director of Finance at the Trust, which Tim Welch previously held.

Sheena Cumiskey said: “I’m passionate about integrated health and care and my hope is to provide continuity whilst the recruitment process takes place. I am looking forward to working with colleagues across Cheshire and Merseyside. I will not be applying for the permanent position at the HCP and will be returning to CWP after 3 months.”

The Care Quality Commission recently rated Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust services as ‘good’.
