Chief Executive of South Yorkshire’s Integrated Care Board confirmed

The South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (SYICB) has announced Gavin Boyle has been appointed as the new Chief Executive designate.

Gavin has over 30 years of experience, previously holding board-level posts as Director of Operations at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Since 2007, Gavin has been a Chief Executive Officer at Yeovil Hospital, Chesterfield Royal Hospital and most recently at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

With the recent boundary decision that sees Bassetlaw realigned with the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS, the South Yorkshire, and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (SYB ICS) will become the South Yorkshire ICB (April 2022) and will be closely aligned with the South Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (SY HCP).

Gavin Boyle, said: “It’s an enormous privilege to be appointed as the first Chief Executive of the South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. There’s a long track record in South Yorkshire of partner organisations working together. I’m excited to be part of a new approach which seeks to address health inequalities, improve clinical outcomes, make services more effective and contribute to the wider social and economic development of the Region.

“There are undoubtedly many challenges ahead as the NHS recovers from the effects of Covid-19 and seeks to address the health inequalities that the pandemic has thrown into sharp relief.

“I particularly welcome the opportunity to work closely with local leaders in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. My priority will be to work with them to help support our communities to be healthy but able to access good quality joined-up services when they need to.”
