Leeds and York Partnership FT launches its new ‘People Plan’

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) has launched its’ new ‘People Plan,’ which sets out the trust’s approach towards tackling issues and concerns raised by colleagues, as well as taking on feedback acquired from staff surveys.

Entitled ‘Our People Plan: 2021-2024′, the 38-page document covers the trust’s values, the People Plan vision, and its road map to ensure the delivery of the plan succeeds in the long term.

Explaining the aim of the trust’s vision for the plan, the document highlights that a compassionate and inclusive culture makes staff’s working life better; people are the best they can be at work, contributing to the delivery of excellent care; and learning from the trust’s activities helps develop staff for the future.

The document also sets out the trust’s four strategic ambitions of the plan, which includes:

  • Looking after our people: particularly the actions the trust must take to keep staff safe, well and healthy – both psychologically and physically.
  • New ways of working and delivering care: emphasising that the trust needs to make effective use of the full range of its’ people’s skills and experience to deliver the best possible patient care.
  • Belonging in the NHS: highlighting the action and support required to create an organisational culture where everyone feels as if they belong.
  • Growing for the future: building on the renewed interests in NHS careers to expand and develop the workforce, as well as retaining colleagues for longer.

Darren Skinner, Director for People and Organisational Development, said: “Our three-year People Plan is a new approach to tackling our colleagues’ issues and concerns. It sets out our commitment to all our colleagues – to fully support them to be the best they can be at work. Rightly so, it has been developed by listening to our people, as well as feedback from our regular staff surveys.

“While the new plan has built on the learning from a difficult 18 months, we continue to live in uncertain times, so we can say with confidence we will need to update and adapt our people strategy during the timeframe it covers.

“We will continue to evolve Our People Plan in response to colleague feedback in the latest staff survey and in response to the ever-changing environment.”

Dr Sara Munro, Chief Executive, added: “We are committed to taking action on staff feedback. We hope as many people as possible will get involved with finding out about the Trust plans at our upcoming engagement events. Colleagues can also have their say in local meetings that are being arranged soon about the actions they think are most important at their local team or service level so we can together make things better for everyone.”
