North West London CCG appoints new Chair
North West London Clinical Commissioning Group has appointed a new interim Chair.
Following an election process in line with the CCG constitution, Dr James Cavanagh, GP, has been chosen for the role and will begin his duties immediately.
An experienced medical leader, Dr Cavanagh has previously worked as the GP borough director for Hammersmith and Fulham.
On his new role, Dr Cavanagh said: “I’m honoured to be elected by my colleagues to navigate the CCG through these next few weeks. There are huge challenges ahead in North West London as our primary care, hospital, mental health and community services strive to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“GPs and primary care professionals are determined to tackle the backlog and give our patients the help and support they need after a very challenging period for us all.”
Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Integrated Care Board appoints new Chief Nursing Officer
Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Integrated Care Board has appointed a new Chief Nursing Officer.
Alison Bussey, Chief Nurse, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has been chosen for the role and will be introduced to the ICB on 13th June.
Neil Carr, Chief Executive, Midlands Partnership NHS FT, commented: “I am sure that you will all join with me in congratulating Alison on her appointment to this role, whilst at the same time agreeing with me what a loss Alison will be to our MPFT family. Alison has been with our trust since 2012 and we will be sad to see her go.
“A paragraph like this will not be able to articulate how much we will miss Alison and her contribution to not only our trust but the populations we serve. There will be many opportunities for us to say “goodbye”, however I am pleased that Alison will remain in “our system” and we will still be able to work together in partnership for the benefit of our patients, service users and staff.”
North East London NHS FT appoints new Acting Vice Chair
North East London NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new Acting Vice Chair.
Sue Lees, Non-Executive Director, North East London NHS FT and Barking Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, has been selected for the role.
A qualified chartered accountant with more than 30 years of service within both the private and public sectors, Sue has led a variety of large capital programmes, including the delivery of a number of new healthcare facilities in Barking, Dagenham, Havering and Brentwood.
Sultan Taylor, Acting Chair, commented: “I am really pleased that Sue is stepping into the role of Vice Chair on an acting basis. She has a wealth of experience and expertise and always puts our colleagues and patients at the heart of what she does.”
On her new appointment, Sue added: “I am privileged to take on the role as Acting Vice Chair and would like to thank our Council of Governors and our Trust Board for their support and encouragement.”
Oxford Health NHS FT appoints new Chief Finance Officer
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new Chief Finance Officer.
Heather Smith, Senior Civil Servant, has been chosen for the role and will replace Director of Finance Mike McEnaney.
A skilled financial strategist, Heather led the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs through the complexities of the EU Exit and COVID-19 pandemic by setting strategic direction and leading change.
During her tenure at Oxford Health, Heather will be responsible for the operational, strategic financial and commercial leadership of the trust, as well as using innovative approaches to enable the transformation of clinical services and models of care.
Dr Nick Broughton, CEO, added: “The Board and executive team are truly delighted to welcome Heather to Oxford Health. She will join us at an incredibly important time given the development of our local integrated care systems and the resulting changes in commissioning for the services we provide.”
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals FT appoints new Research Midwife
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new Research Midwife.
Kerry Dooley has been selected as the trust’s ‘first ever’ Research Midwife, the organisation says.
Working as the Clinical Lead for new study ‘Born and Bred in Doncaster’ (a study focusing on the data collection of pregnant women in Doncaster), Kerry has a wealth of experience in using and analysing data to better understand the health of local population
Kerry said about her new appointment: “Ultimately by doing this role I would like to help improve the care women and their families receive locally and nationally through research. Studying babies from before birth is a really powerful way of understanding the many influences that shape our life.”
