Partners in Devon work together to design anti-racism statement

Partners across Devon have joined forces to co-produce an anti-racism statement and they are asking members of the community to get involved in the design process.

The project relaunched in July 2022 and is piloted by the Devon-wide Ethnic Equality Network, who developed the concept for the statement as part of Black History Month celebrations.

One Devon aims to create a statement which conveys their commitment to tackling racism and proactively moving towards being an anti-racist system.

The network is asking local people, including health and care organisations and staff, to help them co-produce the statement by completing a survey to assist in its development.

In addition, project leads are using intelligence from previous work such as the Nous Review and the Torbay Race Audit to gain insight into the experiences of ethnically diverse staff and patients as means to ensure the project is fully informed.

The One Devon Partnership has agreed to support work focusing on the development of the statement and to embed its principles across the health and care system, once it is complete.
