UCLH – Head of Electronic Health Records

At UCLH (University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), we want to deliver nothing less than world class healthcare.

We span eight sites across the heart of London, and between us we’re delivering an ambitious plan for top quality patient care, excellent education and world class research. But getting there requires innovation, new technology and talented teams to put it into practice. That’s why we need a forward-thinking and multi-talented leader to help take our electronic health record system to the next level and deliver the digital innovation that will help us secure the best patient outcomes for generations to come.

Working with clinical and non-clinical colleagues across our Trust, you’ll either have or develop an expertise in Epic, our new clinical record system. You’ll then use this expertise to lead the team responsible for maintenance, optimisation and development of the system and deliver an ambitious digital innovation programme designed to place UCLH at the forefront of Digital Healthcare Development. Within the programme, you’ll also create effective workplans and make sure all team members understand our vision and deliver against targets. Through confident project management and collaboration with key stakeholders, your work will support our high-quality patient care and enhance our reputation.

You’ll have extensive programme management experience, with a track record of delivering large scale change. You should also have a thorough understanding of large budgets, stakeholder management and flexible working. As you’ll be managing a team towards demanding targets, coaching skills are also crucial. Familiarity with Epic is desirable, but not essential.

In terms of skills, we’re looking for an excellent communicator, negotiator and influencer. Combining this with a wide-ranging knowledge of clinical and operational targets in large hospitals, you’ll confidently meet deadlines and continuously improve our quality-driven service.

Joining us means working in a lively, positive environment where staff are encouraged to learn more, gain new skills and develop their careers as they see fit. Not only do we work in state-of-the-art hospitals, our Education Centre is one of the UK’s most advanced teaching facilities, so you’ll have opportunities to learn and develop at every level. UCLH offers a range of useful benefits, including flexible working, travel ticket loans, childcare support and the NHS pension scheme.
