From September 2020, Cara Charles Barks will begin a new role as Chief Executive of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.
Currently, Cara is Chief Executive at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
Cara has previously worked as Nursing Director at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.
As well as Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Deputy CEO at Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust.
Cara has been in role at Salisbury since 2017 and through her leadership, changed the trust’s status from ‘needs improvement’ to ‘good’.
Cara said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at the RUH at such an exciting time. I’ve been impressed with the passion and ambition of staff to deliver services of the highest standard, and to challenge themselves to do even better.”
Cara is set to replace outgoing chief executive James Scott who will begin his retirement on the 31st March.
Until Cara takes over, Libby Walters who serves as director of finance and deputy chief executive will act as caretaker for the time being.
