As of Friday 24th April, Widnes Urgent Care Centre (UCC) has made changes to its service in order to keep patients and staff ‘as safe as possible’ during the Covid-19 crisis.
UCC opening times will change to 8am to 8pm seven days per week.
The service will also move to an appointment only service.
Walk-in patients will no longer be routinely accepted until further notice.
Any person requiring urgent care for an illness or injury will need to call 0151 495 5000
Patients will be given a telephone assessment prior to being offered an appointment.
UCC has asked that patients attend appointments alone ‘with the exception of children and vulnerable adults’ who can visit with one parent or one carer.
UCC have stressed the importance of not attending the centre without an appointment.
Patients with long term conditions are advised to contact their GP ‘by phone or by completing the online form on the GP practice website (eConsult).
Also, home birth services have been suspended to protect women and babies in line with Cheshire and Merseyside Midwifery Service.
UCC state that:
‘We are continuing to work closely with pregnant women to ensure continuity of care and the best possible birth experience.’
‘We have been working closely with Warrington Borough Council to strengthen our integrated Intermediate Care and Rapid Response teams through redeploying staff in order to make our health and social care teams as resilient in order to prevent admission to hospital and to support patients discharged from hospital.
‘We have also integrated additional services such as our community matrons so that we can test new ways of working to facilitate the delivery of safe and effective care for the complex patients who require support from our community services.’
