Researchers at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (SPHSU), at the University of Glasgow, have launched an online tool designed to help people understand and explore the health and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new tool hopes to encourage discussion about inequalities related to COVID-19. It covers issues such as access to food and healthcare, housing, mental health, transport, education, relationships, environment, and employment and income.
As well as providing useful overviews of each area, the SPHSU tool provides links to further information, stats, surveys, articles and blogs. Aimed mainly at an audience of ‘people who don’t have a background in public health’, the tool can still be a useful resource for healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Utilising images, polls and text that’s free from jargon, as well as linking to media such as videos, podcasts and photos, the tool is accessible for a broad range of readers.
The SPHSU is constantly developing the tool and is asking those interested in collaborating or sharing their thoughts to get in touch on the site or via email.
