Online talk announced by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS FT to discuss new hospitals

An online discussion that will debate the new hospital’s programme will be hosted by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and will take place on the 10th of June, on Microsoft Teams.

The new hospitals programme was launched by the government to build 48 new hospitals and the discussion will focus on the Lancashire and South Cumbria New Hospitals Programme.

Members of the foundation trust are encouraged to attend the talk and those interested, who are not members, can attend can sign up to become a member here – https://www.uhmb.nhs.uk/get-involved/our-membership

Speakers that will attend event include Rebecca Malin, New Hospitals Programme Director and Louise Barker, New Hospitals Programme Communications Manager.

Rebecca Malin, New Hospitals Programme Director said: “This really is a once in a generation opportunity to transform our hospitals and the services we provide for local people. Decisions are yet to be made about the design or location of new hospital buildings and collaboration with local people will be a fundamental and hugely important part of the process.

“This talk is a great opportunity for us to talk to Foundation Trust Members about the programme and how we will be inviting local people, staff and stakeholders to input into the proposals, including a public consultation currently planned for spring 2022.”

The proposals for the new hospitals in the area are being worked on by a number of organisations including Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Primary Care, and Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (a partnership of NHS, local authority, public sector, voluntary, faith and social enterprise and academic organisations).
