Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has announced that Nick Carver will be its new Chair.
Carver is set to join the trust on 1 February 2022 and will be involved in recruiting a new substantive Chief Executive.
The new Chair arrives at Nottingham University Hospitals following retirement in December 2021, when he stepped down from his last role as Chief Executive at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, a post he’d held since 2002.
Overall, Carver has spent 42 years working in the NHS, beginning as a hospital porter before qualifying as a registered nurse and subsequently moving into health service management. He also previously acted as lead for an Aspiring Directors Programme and chaired the Midlands and East Talent Board.
Nick Carver said of his appointment: “I have always believed that to lead is a privilege, especially at this time. I am therefore delighted that I have been asked to Chair the Board at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
“I am convinced that the determination of the excellent people within the Trust, along with the support of our system partners will enable us to address the substantial challenges ahead.”
Acting Chief Executive Rupert Egginton also added: “We very much welcome Nick’s appointment. He brings a wealth of additional expertise to our Board and we are looking forward to working with him.”
