New chief executive named by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

A new chief executive has been appointed at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Angela Stevenson will assume the role after previously acting as the trust’s chief operating officer.

Angela has been chief operating officer at SASH since 2015, having previously led the trust’s medical division, and will now replace Michael Wilson CBE, who is retiring this year.

Angela Stevenson said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the role of chief executive. I have been immensely proud to have worked alongside an incredible team through our journey to being rated ‘Outstanding’ and during our response to the COVID pandemic. I am excited to be able to continue that journey alongside them. I look forward to working with all of our One Team, the local health and care system and our community to improve the health of the local population and deliver excellent care for our patients.”

The appointment is subject to clearance. The recruitment process involved a senior independent panel of assessors.

Dr Richard Shaw, Chair of SASH, said: “Angela’s passion for providing high quality care, reducing health inequalities, and supporting staff shone through during this process. Angela brings a determination to do the best we possibly can for our patients at all times, and I look forward to working closely with her in her new role.”
