Earlier this month, the new independent Chair for Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (ICS) was announced.
Danielle Oum, Chair of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, will take on the role, and will also act as the area’s NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) Chair-designate from April 2022, subjective to the approval of plans in UK Parliament.
Following a ‘national recruitment process’, Danielle will replace Coverntry and Warwickshire’s current ICS Chair, Professor Sir Chris Ham, who is set to step down after deciding not to apply for the role of ICB Chair-designate.
Professor Ham said of the appointment news: “I am delighted to welcome Danielle as the new Chair of the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System. She brings extensive experience from her work with Healthwatch and as an NHS Chair in Dudley, Walsall and currently the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Danielle’s expertise in partnership working will be a huge asset as we work towards becoming a statutory body in April 2022.”
Danielle, commenting on her new position, stated: “I’m honoured to be appointed to this role and looking forward to supporting Coventry and Warwickshire through transition to an Integrated Care System and beyond. I am passionate about promoting equality and inclusion, particularly within disadvantaged communities, and I relish the opportunity to work together with everyone involved in the system to meet the needs of our vibrant and diverse populations.”
Danielle also explained that she will be retaining her post as Chair of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS FT, adding: “I anticipate that these two roles will be complementary, the experience of each enhancing my ability to deliver the other and allowing me to share innovation and experience across our region.”
According to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS FT, Danielle has also previously worked at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Healthwatch Birmingham and Healthwatch Solihull, as well as at Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
In other recent ICS appointments news, the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership has selected Sue Symington as its Chair, while Ian Smith will take on the role at Surrey Heartlands, with all Integrated Care Systems required to appoint a Chair and a Chief Executive by April 2022.
