Interim CEO appointed at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS FT has announced that Matthew Boazman, their Chief Strategy Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, will become the Interim Chief Executive Officer pending the process for a substantive appointment.

Commenting on the news, Matt said: “It has always been a huge privilege to work at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s, to see the difference that our amazing teams make on a daily basis and I feel genuinely honoured to have been asked to cover the interim Chief Executive Officer role.

“I am committed along with whole of our Board in continuing to deliver our shared vision and future ambitions whilst always remaining true to our values.”

The appointment follows the news of the departure of Chief Executive, Sarah-Jane Marsh, who has been appointed as the National Director of Urgent and Emergency Care and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the NHS.

Sarah-Jane added: “Being the CEO of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s has been the privilege of a lifetime, and whatever happens next in my career, a piece of my heart will always remain here.

“Whenever I’m asked what’s so special about us, it’s always the people; the teams we work in, and the inspirational patients and families we serve, and they are what I will miss the most.

“But all good things must come to an end, and I feel the time is right to move on and make a difference in a new way, carrying our values with me as I go.”
