NHS England opens provider collaborative innovators scheme

NHS England has opened an opportunity for providers and systems to join a new Provider Collaborative Innovators Scheme.

The programme aims to support 7-9 collaboratives address key challenges, shape service improvement and deliver mid to long term transformation.

The criteria for the programme is to support Innovator programmes deliver transformation and address key challenges, such as transforming and improving planned care, specialist acute care and non-specialist mental health, learning disability and autism services. Through this, NHS England will be providing hands-on support for providers to ‘heighten the benefits for the population and surrounding areas’.

Last year, NHS England published guidance on the important role provider collaboratives have in supporting ICS’s purpose and goals. Since the guidance has been published, they want to fasten the pace so more communities and people can benefit from the collaboration.

Within the letter sent to NHS Trusts and ICBs, NHS England highlight some of the benefits which are:

  • Access to improvement and development support.
  • Have a leading role in service transformation and shape national policy.
  • Learn from other colleagues and support to improve care.
