NHS Supply Chain opens tender for logistics service provider

NHS Supply Chain has opened a tender worth an estimated £875 million to £4,400 million, dependent upon contract length, with the aim of procuring a logistics service provider.

The logistics service provider will be responsible for a range of operations, including warehousing at dedicated sites; fleet and transport operations; inbound logistics and transhipment; inventory management; carriers and sub-contracted transport; operational finance and internal audit services; customer services; systems and applications including the implementation of a warehouse management system; facilities management services; and international inbound freight services.

The services supplied will be available to NHS trusts and any other NHS entities, government entities, any private sector entity active in UK healthcare, and private residences.

The contract will start on 1 April 2025 and is set to run for 84 months, excluding an anticipated five-month initial implementation period. With a number of possible extensions available, the maximum potential total period of the contract is 11 years and 11 months.
