North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust has announced the appointment of its new chief executive, welcoming current interim chief exec Dr Buki Adeyemo to the role.
The trust describes how Buki graduated from the University of Lagos in Nigeria before joining the NHS in 1997. A dual qualified old age and adult psychiatrist, consultant of old age psychiatrist and NHS chief executive representative on NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network Board, Buki is said to have spent the majority of her career working in the North Staffordshire area.
The trust’s chairman, David Rogers, notes that Buki is the “longest-serving member of our executive team”, having stepped into the interim position two years ago, following her post as medical director.
David adds: “Buki stepped into the Interim position with ease – her strong values, leadership and experience have continued to drive the trust on our journey to become outstanding in all we do and how we do it. I’m sure you will join me in congratulating Buki on the appointment.”
Buki herself comments: “It is a huge privilege to be appointed as Combined Healthcare’s chief executive. The needs of our patients and staff is always at the heart of my decision making to ensure that Combined retains and builds on our reputation. I have an ambitious vision for the future of Combined and I am excited by the opportunities to build on the growth and innovation already taking place as we continue to serve the population of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.”
