HEE announces new chief executive

Dr Navina Evans has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Health Education England.

HEE stated “after a rigorous interview process, Dr Navina Evans has been appointed as new Chief Executive.”

Currently, Dr Evans works for East London Foundation Trust.

Her new role will see her being phased in from the 1st April to move to a full-time position in October this year.

Professor Ian Cumming is the outgoing Chief Executive who has held the role for 8 years.

Professor Ian Cumming, Current Chief Executive, Health Education England said:

“While I will miss HEE and the fantastic team of dedicated people, I have had the pleasure of working with in the last eight years;

“I am very pleased to be handing over to Navina, who is a highly competent and qualified clinician and manager, and understands the central importance of education and training in delivering high quality health care to patients. “

Dr Navina Evans said:

“I am proud to be joining my new colleagues in HEE at a time when caring for and developing our health and care staff is of greatest importance.”

“I look forward to working with them to develop the skilled, responsive and compassionate workforce of the future.”

“Whilst I am sad to be leaving my fantastic friends in East London Foundation Trust, I will continue to follow them with joy as they always strive to improve the quality of life for all they serve.”
