The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has appointed a new interim General Secretary & Chief Executive.
Pat Cullen, who has been in the role since April, has now formally become the new interim General Secretary & Chief Executive this week. It comes as the news of Dame Donna Kinnair, announced earlier this month, is to step down for health-related reasons.
Dame Donna said earlier this month regarding her resignation: “I have been honoured to represent my profession in this role, particularly throughout the challenges of the pandemic and to have had an opportunity to work alongside ICU colleagues at the Nightingale Hospital London. I wish my colleagues and our membership all the best for the future and look forward to taking on some new challenges after my recovery.”
Pat Cullen has worked at the RCN since 2016, and initally takes up the new role until late 2022.
Pat said: “It is a privilege to continue in this role during such a critical time for nursing. I am passionate about representing RCN members and will do everything in my power to make sure the voices of nursing staff are heard loudly and clearly.”
LH recently covered the news from the RCN of Susan Aitkenhead will be the new Director of Nursing at the organisation and the organisation has recently launched a new education strategy.
