South West London Integrated Care System has shared an update on the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space (CHWS).
CHWS, a community hub for people aged 18 and above, was launched last year by NHS South West London, Mind in Croydon and the Croydon BME Forum.
The hub aims to facilitate access to free mental health advice and supp and is designed to provide a safe space for people to discuss a variety of personal concerns such as financial worries, loneliness or housing queries.
The hub’s website states: “To lead a happy life, we need to lead a healthy life. For us to do this together, we need to look at health and wellbeing as a whole. This means looking after physical health along with our mental health and wellbeing.”
It adds: “We provide clinical mental health and social care expertise, with a wide range of services and support that can help you look after your health and wellbeing, including support when you’re in a time of crisis.”
The ICS has shared information encouraging residents to contact the hub online or in person and highlighted how current societal pressures can make life “challenging, overwhelming and isolating… we understand that many people are feeling the strain of the current cost of living, and during these times it’s important to have somewhere to turn to if you feel like you’re struggling.
“Since its launch CHWS has supported hundreds of people with the help of a clinical psychologist, support workers and a Crisis Team who provide both clinical and social care support.”
