NHS England has announced a new Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for Patient Safety and Improvement.
Charlotte McArdle will start in the role in November. She is currently serving as the Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland’s Department of Health. Charlotte is also a board trustee for the RCN Foundation and a Visiting Professor at Ulster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences.
Reacting to the news on Twitter, Ruth May – who is the NHS’s Chief Nursing Officer for England – said: “I am delighted to announce that Charlotte McArdle has been appointed to the role of Deputy CNO for Patient Safety & Improvement for NHS England. Charlotte has a wealth of experience and we look forward to welcoming her to #teamCNO in November.”
Charlotte also reacted on social media to her appointment, stating: “Looking forward to joining #teamCNO. It’s been a privilege to be CNO NI for nearly 9 years and so proud of the contribution of nursing and midwifery through this pandemic.”
In other related news, NHS England also recently announced a new Chief Executive, as well as releasing a report that covers discrimination and a new oversight approach framework.
